Animals
There are a few animals that live in the Savanna, but they would have had to adapt to the weather. Some Australian animals that live in the savanna include the Koala, and the Emu. Other examples of animals that live in the savanna include, the lion, elephants, and Grant's Zebra.
An animal that has an obvious adaption is the giraffe. The giraffe has a blue tongue, because their tongues are hanging out all day everyday in the sun. It is blue because the colour is like having sunscreen on your body. It is like an insulator and just absorbs the sunlight. |
Plants
As I said on the homepage, there are mainly just C4 grasses and trees in the Savanna. The two both work together in ways because, the C4 grasses need more sunlight than most grasses, and since trees have an open canopy, it is easier for the grasses to photosynthesize. It is called C4 grass because it has 4 carbon molecules in it, so C3 grass has 3 carbon molecules, and so on.
